John
Brennan, President Obama’s nominee for C.I.A. director, faced off with the Senate in a Confirmation Hearing Thursday, in an attempt to shed some new light on Revelations about the targeted Drone killings of U.S.
citizens overseas.
The
hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
Lawmakers
had pressed the White House to provide more information on the
administration's legal justifications for using armed drone strikes
to target Americans abroad suspected of terrorist activity.
The
White House agreed to brief lawmakers after some senators suggested
they might block Brennan's nomination until they received more
information.
Brennan,
currently Obama's top counterterrorism adviser, faces opposition from
some GOP lawmakers, but disclosures about the administration's drone
policy have sparked anger among liberals as well.
